A full series of measurements taken by hand, down to shoulder slope and posture. Precision here decides everything that follows.
An individual paper pattern is drawn for every client — front, back, yoke, sleeve, collar, cuff. Yours belongs to you and to no one else.
Each shirt is cut and sewn in-house in New York City. Nothing is sent out and nothing is batched.
You put it on before it's yours, and anything that needs moving gets marked and corrected. No one leaves this shop with a shirt they don't love.

Shirts are our speciality — from a crisp white shirt to a French cuff dress shirt, made exactly to you. We also make suits, sport jackets and tailored jackets to measure. Ask about them at your fitting.
Beyond shirts
The same measurements, the same paper pattern, the same hands. Once your shirts fit exactly, we cut jackets and suits to the same standard — nothing is sent out, nothing is batched. Ask Luke about cloth and cut at your next fitting.

Our story
The workroom, Madison Avenue
Reza is a fourth-generation shirtmaker who has spent his working life at the machine. He has been passing the trade on to his son Luke for years now — the measurements, the drafting, the small corrections that never make it into a book.
Together they've combined the classic and the modern to make world-class shirts, in a Midtown workroom where the patterns and the machines are still the ones that matter.

I have tried a number of different custom shirts from J. Hilburn to Proper Cloth to various other brick and mortar locations. Luke is very nice to work with and has fast turn around. Try on in one week and the rest of the batch in 3 weeks from measurements. Perfect fit, great service and communication through the whole process. I could not recommend more.

After researching online, I called from Miami to see if I could get a formal shirt made while visiting NYC for my daughter's wedding. I only had 4 days! Shortly after landing I received a call stating they would wait for me to arrive (my flight was late). I arrived and we discussed what I looked for in the process. I was measured, selected style and fabric. They called me 2 days later to come for a final fitting and the shirt was PERFECT! I've had clothing made numerous times in many countries. For the 1st time ever I was comfortable all night with my Tuxedo on, and it washed and fits perfectly after washing. I'll be back for more shirts.

This store is truly a gem in NYC. They make the shirts in the shop, allowing them to have control over every little detail. But the experience is not overwhelming, because Reza and Luke have tremendous experience with men's shirts. I've gotten dress shirts and casual shirts from them. The fabrics for the dress shirts are truly remarkable: sea island cotton for the summer, broadcloth, pinpoint, and even a subtle herringbone. And the casual shirts are impressive in their own right. The Oxford shirt I got here is made from such a nice heavy fabric that it puts all of my other oxfords to shame.
